Fendi’s Multi-Collab Resort 2023 Collection stormed New York Fashion Week

Silvia Venturini Fendi and Kim Jones traveled to New York to present FENDI’s Resort 2023 collection and celebrate the 25th anniversary of its iconic Baguette bag.

Fendi has returned to the Big Apple to storm New York Fashion Week with its Resort 2023 collection.

With this collection, the brand celebrated the 25th anniversary of its “Baguette” bag by announcing the spirit of collaboration, with co-designed elements from Tiffany & Co, Marc Jacobs, Sarah Jessica Parker and Porter. First introduced in 1998, the miniature shoulder bag achieved coveted “It Bag” status after it appeared in a now-classic purse-snatching episode of Sex and the City.

” I didn’t want to do a traditional “collection” for the anniversary. Rather, it’s a celebration of an era, of the moment when the Baguette became famous. I relate that moment to a sense of freedom in excess and fun, both qualities that the Baguette possesses,” explained Kim Jones, FENDI’s women’s designer.

And to promote this “New York vibe,” Kim Jones invited Marc Jacobs, former creative director of Louis Vuitton, as well as iconic New York jeweler Tiffany & Co, recently added to LVMH Moët. The former created ten looks, playing with logomania, including FendiRoma in block letter intarsias on sweaters, tracksuits and trucker jackets, while the latter enriched Baguettes bags with silver charms and even created a handmade Baguette in solid sterling silver.

From parachute train skirts, opera capes and recycled fur capes, accessories and clothing were presented in muted white tones combined with bright neons inspired by safety vests on the streets of New York.

The Tiffany “T” logo combined with Fendi’s inverted “F” logo appeared as graphic hardware elements on baguettes, outerwear and “Tiffany Blue” colored satin baseball caps. The collection’s standard-sized bags also introduced a super mini baguette, similar to the miniature size of the “Saddle Bag” seen on the Dior x ERL men’s runway, with multi-pocket compartments. The mini-Baguette was also placed on baseball caps, belts and gloves.

On the Resort ’23 runway, Fendi’s appreciation for New York City street style was evident in its presentation of layered knitwear, handcrafted denim, stacked accessories and technical outerwear. Utility, as a theme, was the design focus of the collection’s ready-to-wear approach and included leather windbreakers with color-blocked front chest tapes, moiré bomber jackets with double zipper closures and envelope-sized wrap pockets, along with tonal cargo pants and car coats with exterior zipper detail. “Fendi Roma” logo shirts, military boots and decorated caps were complemented by shimmering sequined separates and two-tone sport jackets.

Kim Kardashian and Winnie Harlow

Celebrities Kim Kardashian, Kate Moss, Grace Jones, Winnie Harlow, Adwoa Aboah, Chloe Bailey and Euphoria‘s Maude Apatow were among the star-studded front row. With anniversaries come heritage, but the collection showcase was far from traditional.
