2022 Governors Awards: Red Carpet Fashion

The Governors Awards 2022 kicked off with a red carpet starring Sadie Sink, Ana de Armas, Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde and more.

Hosted by the Motion Picture Academy, the 13th annual Governors Awards brought the Oscar hopefuls and the artists selected for the honorary awards, including Diane Warren, Euzhan Palcy, Peter Weir and Michael J. Fox.

The Governors Awards is an annual event that celebrates the awards given by the Academy’s Board of Governors: The Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Honorary Award.

Movie stars also walked on the red carpet in their finest. Celebs such as Florence Pugh, Margot Robbie and Angela Bassett wore glamorous looks for the event.

Sheer styles with lace and tulle continued being a celebrity favourite on the red carpet this year. Monochromatic looks were also popular, from Margot Robbie’s green Bottega Veneta gown and Jessica Chastain’s off-the-shoulder red dress to Michelle Yeoh’s yellow feathered dress.

CATE BLANCHETT

Cate Blanchett looked flawless in an Alexander McQueen Spring-Summer 2020 Ready-to-Wear gown. She finished the look with Louis Vuitton jewellery.

JANELLE MONÁE

Janelle Monáe looked beautiful wearing a dramatic black Giambattista Valli gown, which featured a high neckline and flowing pleated skirt.

AUSTIN BUTLER

Austin Butler looked amazing in Yves Saint Laurent and Cartier’s jewellery.

FLORENCE PUGH 

Florence Pugh wore a sheer white dress designed by Victoria Beckham. The dress featured silk panels and glistening metallic polka dots.

JESSICA CHASTAIN

Jessica Chastain wore an incredible and romantic red gown designed by Zuhair Murad.

OLIVIA WILDE

Olivia Wilde stunned on the red carpet wearing a layered tulle Erdem gown with a netted train. She paired the look with sheer opera gloves and Mikimoto jewellery.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE

Jennifer Lawrence opted for a simple styling look. She wore a black tulle embroidered dress by Dior Spring 2023 collection, which featured spaghetti straps.

EDDIE REDMAYNE

Eddie Redmayne arrived at the 2022 Governors Awards’ red carpet wearing a black silk suit by Alexander McQueen. He finished the look with a silver flower brooch on his lapel.

ANA DE ARMAS

Ana de Armas opted for a Louis Vuitton design, which featured a backless style and a delicately embellished skirt. She completed the look with jewellery from Louis Vuitton, too.
