MET GALA: The most fashionable event of 2021

Due to coronavirus, the 2020 Met Gala became an online event and arrived with an exclusive YouTuve livestream. This year, it will finally return to an in-face event.

An exclusive Youtube Livestream called “A moment with the Met” was all we had from Met Gala in 2020. The event was an initiative to help fund the fashion industry during the COVID-19 crisis.

This September, 13th, The Met Gala is making its return and will be a two-part show that will last through 2022.

“The first part, In America: “A lexicon of fashion”, will be on view from Sept. 18 to Sept. 5, 2022, which will explore the “modern vocabulary of American style,” as well as celebrate The Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary. The second part of the exhibition, titled “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, will explore the history and development of American fashion from the 18th century through to the present time. This exhibition will not be opened until May 5th, 2022 and its celebratory Met Gala will take place on May 2nd, 2022.

“This two-part exhibition will consider how fashion reflects evolving notions of identity in America and will explore a multitude of perspectives through presentations that speak to some of the complexities of history with powerful immediacy”. “In looking at the past through this lens, we can consider the aesthetic and cultural impact of fashion on historical aspects of American life,” said Max Hollein, the Marina Kellen French Director of The Met-Gala.
