The Best Looks from Fall Men’s Fashion Week 2023

From the fluid tailoring of Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent to the monochromatic color palette at Givenchy.

Fndi Menswear Fall 2023.24

This January 2023, Men’s Fashion Week took place in Paris and Milan. One of the most impressive fashion weeks in the world and one that brings more inspiration to the closets of fashion fanatics included in the couture lineup in Milan were the likes of Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Maison Margiela and Saint Laurent, to name a few.

This season, most designers used their menswear collections to explore gender and engage in the conversation between what is considered menswear and what is traditionally considered womenswear.

Men’s fashion week saw the return of Anthony Vaccarello to the Paris menswear program at Saint Laurent. “I really want them to be almost one person,” Saint Laurent artistic director Anthony Vaccarello said of his clients. “So the women could be the men, and the men could be the women. There’s no difference.” Dior proposed the men’s skirt next season, worn with high boots, and Prada included sleeveless shirts and pastel mohair cardigans.

However, the most important thing has been the trends shown by the world’s most established designers, where fashion will step very strong to give a touch of attention this 2023. This year, we will be able to shine with minimalist, sophisticated and tasteful styles, always.

Check out some of the boldest collections from fall 2023 Menswear Fashion Week.

FENDI

To mark the debut of her Fall/Winter 2023 men’s collection, Silvia Venturini Fendi presented her latest collection, highlighting the power of textures. Blanket coats and ponchos, cashmere tracksuits, oversize vests, fluid pants, mohair scarves and blankets were clear examples of the power of textures and being a harmonious combination of trend-setting designs, nods to its iconography and a lot of luxury.

The brand also opted for classicism and traditional masculine silhouettes. There were asymmetrical sartorial classics and deconstructed shirts that revealed flashes of skin. Of course, there was the iconic “it”, the “Baguette Bag”.

DOLCE & GABBANA

Designers Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana presented their latest Dolce & Gabbana Fall-Winter 2023/24 collection, which explores the essence of the brand. The runway show took place on January 14, during Milano Fashion Week.

From dresses to fitted jackets that accentuate the waist, from thin black ties to jeans, from big coats to corsets, which are reissues of the AW 1999/00 collection, with micro knits and double-belted pants, the runway was a continuous reference to the codes that have built the brand’s aesthetics over the years.  “This has nothing to do with minimalism, but with simplicity,” they stated. This season’s collection revolved around dark pieces. “These are our codes, ranging from black to eighty percent black,” they joked.

GIVENCHY

Givenchy creative director Matthew M. Williams took to the runway in Paris with a collection of layered looks for men, with suit jackets over hoodies and wide-leg Bermuda shorts. He also “identified an instinctive evolution of sartorial virtues reflected in his own relationship with clothing,” mixing formal with or casual.

A monochromatic colour palette stood out throughout the collection, with splashes of vibrant pinks, greens and purples. There was plenty of tailoring, cargo pants transformed into skirts over sweatpants and tartan plaid skirts clashing with artfully worn knitwear.

PRADA

Created by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simmons, Prada presented its latest Fall-Winter 2023.24 collection, exploring the principles of fashion and evaluating its importance and impact in the modern world. It was held at the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada. The Prada FW 2023.24 showcased a collection where simplicity, minimization, comfort, and amplification took centre stage.

The collection showcased assertive, and extreme silhouettes to create a unique and fresh finish. There was a range of military-inspired outwear – slim officer’s coats, peacoats, parkas flight jackets and voluminous bombers. The oversized collars and cardigans were also featured throughout the collection.

SAINT LAURENT

Housed at Paris’ Bourse de Commerce (Pinault Collection museum), Saint Laurent presented its latest Fall 2023-24 collection, exploring the thin line between fashion and art. A palette of black, white, nude, navy, and silver took centre stage throughout the collection. However, it focused on the boldness of shape and texture rather than colour.

The Fall-Winter 2023.24 collection also blended masculine and feminine motifs. Fluidity was a focal hallmark, and clean garments were the primary goal. There were floor-hugging overcoats, ultra-sharp shoulders hooded pieces, knitwear tunics with extended necks, and more.
