For the first time in 40 years, Rio de Janeiro was chosen to present the new collection.

Wes Gordon, creative director of Carolina Herrera, has presented in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, his Resort 2024 collection, in which he embarks on a journey of exuberant joy and sensuality. “It’s a city that inspires us for many reasons: its vibrant colour palette; the eclecticism of its popular music, revered around the world; Oscar Niemeyer’s stunning architecture; and the exuberance of its traditions, which I greatly respect,” Gordon said.
For the first time in her 40-year career, Carolina Herrera brought the glamour of New York to the Rio de Janeiro catwalks with the presentation of her first resort collection outside the city that never sleeps. Wes Gordon was the one who decided to defy tradition and transfer the brand’s culture to Brazilian territory. For the first time in history, the sobriety and glamour of New York merged with the vibrant and historic city that houses design and sophistication with tropical airs.

Creative director Wes Gordon continues to reinvent the iconic codes of the Herrera house with captivating new silhouettes through different proportions, fabrics and a rainbow colour palette based on New York’s signature black. He added: “Rio has a legacy of extraordinary richness, an exciting cultural mix and diversity. We are a house with a Latin heart, and this collection allows us to explore that DNA from a different cultural and geographic point of view, always with deep admiration and respect. I look forward to collaborating with local teams to bring this special experience to life.

Located in the Santa Teresa neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro, at the last minute, the parade had a long delay as the weather decided to take a 180º turn, leaving the city under a black cloud accompanied by torrential rain. However, this did not impede the collection to shine as it did. The line proposed a new vision of the Herrera woman, full of a reinforced spirit of relaxed confidence. The joyful spirit with which the creative director opened the show immersed guests in a world of sensual inspiration and joy, paying homage to the modernist malecon designed by Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx.
Silhouettes that blur the lines between casual and elegant, garments that defy the division between day and night style and unexpected colour combinations were added. Also, orchids are presented throughout the collection in delicate embroidery and watercolour prints on the organza.

“I am delighted to hold our first runway show outside of New York in Rio de Janeiro,” said Carolina Herrera’s creative director. “It is a city that inspires us for many reasons: its vibrant color palette; the eclecticism of its popular music, revered around the world; the stunning architecture of Oscar Niemeyer; and the exuberance of its traditions, which I greatly respect,” he added.
Likewise, the joyful spirit and exuberant happiness and sensuality of the city of Brazil are very present in every detail of this new Resort collection, also in the presentation, with the choice of the soundtrack by national icon Gal Costa.

Among the celebrities invited to the mega event, we could see celebrities from all over the world, from the Argentine Eugenia “China” Suarez and Valentina Zenere to renowned fashionistas such as Valentina Ferragni, Lele Burnier, Maria Rita Alonso, Thai de Melo, Leonie Hanne, Dylana Suarez, Sabria Carpenter, Camila Morrone and more.
On a Wednesday night before the big day, the “Jungle Party” was held, where guests dined and danced with an authentic samba show, representing the diversity and richness of this city that vibrates joy and celebration through dance and music.
