Magazine: Hello, Sheila! It’s a pleasure for us to interview you. We would like to know more about you and your exciting life as a model. First of all, where do you currently reside?

Sheila Pereira: “I live in the Balearic Islands, a place I felt would be my refuge of tranquillity, inspiration, and connection with nature many years ago. I don’t have a favourite island because each one is special and gives me different feelings.”

Magazine: That’s good to know about you! Where were you born and where did you grow up?

SP: “I was born in El Bierzo, in the north of Spain, a small region nestled between mountains, surrounded by valleys and villages embraced by nature. I spent my entire childhood there until adulthood. I’ve never been a city person.”

Magazine: It sounds like you had a wonderfully grounded upbringing. Speaking of your journey, how did you get started in the modelling world and what inspired you to pursue this career?

SP: “Being in front of a camera has always been part of my life at home since I was five years old. I started doing small fashion shows in León when I was 14. Years later, I entered the Miss Castilla y León beauty pageant and won. I didn’t compete in the national pageant because I had other offers and priorities at that time. I’ve never had a specific inspiration; it feels like modelling has always been a part of my being.”

Magazine: That’s fascinating! It seems like your journey in modelling has taken you to many places. Which fashion markets have you worked in so far?

SP: “I worked with IMG for several years, and my representation has taken a significant turn in the past two years. I’ve travelled across Europe for many years, losing count of how many cities I’ve visited. This year, I spent an extended period in Australia, and I was truly happy to work in such a wonderful and exemplary place.”

Magazine: That’s a great perspective. Given how much you travel for work, how do you manage to stay connected with your roots and your culture while travelling so much for work?

SP: “I stay connected to my roots by spending some seasons between León and the Balearic Islands. The days here are always calmer and more peaceful, making it a good break between my travels.”

Magazine: That’s really inspiring. What impact do you hope to make in the fashion industry, both professionally and personally?

SP: “I hope to make a meaningful impact in the fashion industry by staying true to myself and embracing authenticity. Professionally, I aim to bring a unique perspective and presence to every project I work on, blending elegance with a genuine connection to my roots. Personally, I want to inspire others to find their own balance and stay grounded amid the glamour and fast pace of the industry. It’s important to me that my work reflects not just my style but also my values and passions.”

Magazine: Balancing such a demanding career must be challenging. How do you balance your hectic modelling schedule with your interests and passions?

SP: “Balancing my modelling schedule with my passions is crucial for me. I make it a priority to carve out time for the things I love listening to and playing music. These activities not only provide a much-needed break but also help me stay grounded and inspired. By staying connected with nature and indulging in my hobbies, I find the harmony that keeps me balanced and energised amidst the whirlwind of my career.”

Magazine: It’s clear you have a lot of diverse interests. What hobbies or interests do you have outside of modelling, and how do they contribute to your personal fulfilment and creativity?

SP: “I really enjoy listening to and playing the Baroque lute, handpan, harp, and piano. These are just a few of the many things I love doing in my free time. They bring me a lot of joy and help me stay balanced and inspired, providing a creative outlet that compliments my work in modelling.”

Magazine: Modelling can be quite demanding. What has been one of the most challenging aspects of your modelling career, and how have you overcome it?

SP: “One of the most challenging aspects for me has been staying true to my character and personality both in front of and behind the camera. In the fashion industry, you must adapt to the preferences of brands, some clients, the team, or the culture. To do this, you need a forward-thinking approach to what each client requires or wants to showcase in their campaigns when working.”

Magazine: Sustainability is a growing concern in the fashion industry. How do you incorporate sustainable practices into your work?

SP: “Sustainability is not just a concern in the fashion industry, but a global issue. It’s currently uncontrollable in this sector, but I have faith in the future. While I incorporate this practice more in my personal life, I try to make a small effort in my work, too. For example, before starting on set, I bring some of my organic hair and makeup products, which are free of toxins, plastics, and animal testing.”

Magazine: What advice would you give to your younger self when you were just starting out in modelling?

SP: “I would tell my younger self to stay true to who you are and not be swayed by trends or others’ opinions. Trust in your unique path and be patient with the process. Embrace every experience, both the challenges and the successes, as they all contribute to your growth. Remember to stay grounded and always prioritise your well-being and authenticity above all else.”

Magazine: What message do you hope to convey to your fans and followers through your work and your journey?

SP: “The most important message I want to convey to my fans and everyone, in general, is to trust in what you truly desire with perseverance and positivity. Stay strong through the challenges, learn, and enjoy the process. Keeping a positive and patient mindset is one of the keys to achieving any kind of goal.”

Magazine: Can you share some insights into your preparation routine before a big show or campaign?

SP: “Before a big campaign or runway show, if I have the chance to be in an open or natural space, I practice grounding and go for a run near the sea or mountains, as I usually avoid doing this in cities due to pollution. I enjoy exercising outdoors. Swimming is a form of meditation for me, and I also take cold showers and hot baths with salt and magnesium to care for my body and mind as best I can, without overdoing it. I also practice intermittent fasting when necessary.”

Magazine: Thank you for sharing your journey and insights with us, Sheila. It’s been a pleasure getting to know more about you and your inspiring work. We look forward to seeing what you accomplish next. Best of luck with all your future endeavors!

SP: Thank you so much! It’s been great speaking with you.
