See the 7 Best-Dressed Celebrities at the Met Gala 2022

The theme was “Gilded Glamour,” and famous figures encouraged to channel the elegance of late 19th-century fashion.

The first Monday in May has finally arrived, and it’s time to take a look at the red carpet for the Met Gala 2022.

The Met Gala is the big night of fashion, and celebrities are known to save their flashiest outfits for its often theatrical red carpet.

The event’s dress code was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”. The theme references the hyper-staged style and designs worn by the rich, famous and fashionable followers during the late 1800s.

The exhibition took place at the Costume Center, inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

What does “Gilded Glamour” mean?

Well, there are many possible interpretations. Gilded Glamour was a period of excess for those who were able to succeed: the wealthy who shamelessly overindulged in all aspects of their lives, especially when it came to clothing. It was a time when “new money” and “old money” collided with excitement and passion for technology and the future.

Multiple celebrities complied with the dress code, dressing up in custom designer suits and archival vintage.

Take a look at the best-dressed celebrities of fashion’s biggest night:

KIM KARDASHIAN

For this year’s Met Gala, Kim Kardashian was loaned Marilyn Monroe’s gown by Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum. The dress was originally worn in 1962 when Marilyn sang the famous “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. The stunning cinched dress is adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals and was created by costume designer Jean Louis. Kim was only able to wear the dress for a couple of minutes on the Met Gala red carpet before donning a replica once inside the event.

EVAN MOCK

Evan Mock arrived at the Met Gala 2022 in style, and let’s just say he understood the task when it comes to the theme “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”. Evan’s outfit consists of low-rise wide-leg pants and an open coat with corseted detailing. The look is from the brand founded by Generation Z, Head of State.

ALICIA KEYS

Alicia Keys paid homage to New York City with her Met Gala 2022 gown.

The shimmering black and silver Ralph Lauren gown featured a black cape adorned with a glittering silhouette of the entire city skyline. The star wore her hair pulled back in a sleek long braid with black and silver hairpieces that enhanced the look.

JOE JONAS AND SOPHIE TURNER

Sophie Turner highlighted her baby bump in a floor-length black Louis Vuitton dress that had fishnet-style cut-out detailing across the shoulders and stomach. Joe Jonas added a quirky touch to this white Louis Vuitton tailcoat, which extended from the back to the floor.

KAIA GERBER

The daughter of model Cindy Crawford, who attended the ball with boyfriend Austin Butler, looked like an Art Deco goddess with her waist-length curls and sequined Alexander McQueen gown.

BLAKE LIVELY AND RYAN REYNOLDS

Blake Lively, fashion icon and co-host of the MET Gala 2022, wore a copper-coloured strapless gown with matching opera gloves by Versace. The gown magically transforms from pink to blue, an effect that mirrores the rusting process of the Statue of Liberty. She attended the event with her husband and co-host, Ryan Reynolds, who wore a Versace tuxedo.

JESSICA CHASTAIN

Jessica Chastain offered a vibrant look in a ruby red duchess silk sequin embroidered gown and Gucci diamond jewellery on the Met Gala 2022 red carpet.
