Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection navigates identity and legacy.

Dolce & Gabbana once again showcased their unparalleled sense of style and innate understanding of contemporary menswear with their Spring Summer 2024 collection aptly titled “Style”, which they presented at Milan Fashion Week. This collection embodied the essence of refined elegance, effortlessly combining classic elements with modern trends, embellished with contemporary touches. The collection as a whole combines in a surprising way classically inspired outfits with urban looks.
After nearly 40 years in business together, the duo has proven their worth as designers and entrepreneurs. At a pre-show press conference in Milan, Dolce himself had this to say. He told the press, “Bombarded as we are by the constant noise of social media and trend churn, not-so-trusted position influencers and an avalanche of images, we keep asking ourselves, ‘Will people remember us? Will we leave a legacy remarkable enough, a style that will stand the test of time?”
This answer is encapsulated in the show’s invitation, a replica of a metal credit card enclosed in a black envelope. It signals a shift in perception, serving as an emblem of identity and the meaning of solid foundations. “Style is also about having a strong identity, solid foundations,” says Stefano, articulating the designers’ philosophy.

For Dolce & Gabbana, a brand synonymous with great glamour and Sicilian savoir-faire, this season, back to basics was the key. And so Dolce & Gabbana perfected the concept of ‘style’. It wasn’t so much about the clothes, but about their style and the attitude with which they dressed. In an unexpected but welcome twist, this season, the focus was on cut, construction, fit and precise tailoring.
Men’s fashion has always served as an expressive canvas for designers, and for this collection, they revisited familiar signifiers in renewed and simplified interpretations. Elements such as sleeveless shirts, black, the coppola hat, rosary, lace, transparencies and Sicilian influences were employed, with a primary focus on impeccable tailoring and construction.

Dolce & Gabbana also celebrates Italian craftsmanship by incorporating time-honored artisanal details, such as embroidery, to add rich texture to its pieces. Overall, the SPRING 2024 menswear collection delivers on its promise of ultra-modern tailoring that encapsulates contemporary luxury and attention to detail with the utmost precision.

The Spring-Summer 2024 season begins with a tribute to traditional tailoring. Redefining the best men’s suits with contemporary touches, through clear and seductive lines, defined backs and shoulders, elegant accessories such as ties, games with textures and prints, as well as volumes for the creation of more versatile silhouettes. Giving a more artistic touch to the collection we have flowers sculpted in cotton and silk, adorning from jackets to shirts, bringing an air of softness and delicacy.
And as we know they are experts at marrying tradition with innovation, the Italian designers paid homage to their own work by selecting some of their vintage garments that boldly displayed labels with the year they were first presented.

The color palette of the collection is dominated by solid tones such as Sicilian black, white, sandy beige, pearl, gray, camel and brown, most of them in monochromatic versions -both solid and transparent- and some interrupted in line prints or polka dots.
“Embracing a spirit of innovation and craftsmanship, the quilted pieces redefine volume with a harmonious combination of exploration, aesthetics and technology. Meticulously crafted with special techniques and precisely executed in the rich Italian artisanal tradition, the outerwear fuses seamlessly with the dynamic essence of a modern, sleek and exceptionally lightweight silhouette.” – By Dolce & Gabbana.
